Utilizing unique Tank Lifters equipment alongside our custom smart FEM engineering, J de Jonge TankX employs some of the most experienced supervisors in the field, dedicated to lifting storage tanks of any size or shape, anywhere across the globe.
In recent decades, the tank lifting process has become indispensable in tank maintenance projects, especially for tanks constructed on soft soil such as river deltas, or those that have settled unevenly which often results in malfunctions of the floating roofs, undue pipeline stresses and other operational issues.
Reasons for tank lifting:
While each variety of storage tank requires a unique lifting solution, J de Jonge TankX utilizes extensive experience in the field as well as the latest and greatest Finite Element Analysis models, ultimately resulting in the safest and most efficient solutions possible.
Whether it be a fixed roof, spherical, external and/or internal floating roofing, internal (center) columns, or any other tank configuration, we at J de Jonge TankX are determined to provide a unique and effective solution for maintenance and additional supports. Tank size is not a factor, and we will always confidently deliver a technical solution to lift.
Another important factor that we evaluate for each project is tank safety. We always want to ensure that tank integrity will not be compromised in any way, and to this end several calculations are done to ensure the proper number of lifting points based on the load as well as the bearing capacity of the subsoil. These calculations include a determination of vertical forces, maximum distances between lifting points, total soil stress as well as the friction force. In addition, we will meticulously determine the best size, location and position of the cribbing/ stoppings.
When it comes to tank repairs there is no safer, more effective method than what we at J de Jonge TankX practice. With this process, local settlements can be corrected, and older tanks’ edge settlement can be redetermined ‘as built’. In addition, our solution provides the important opportunity to (re)install a new concrete barrier ring beam or crushed stone ring wall while the tank is temporarily supported during the maintenance process.
Another unique advantage of the lifting process is the opportunity to repair or even replace a tank bottom in its entirety. With storage tanks jacked up to 8ft / 2,4m above the foundation as well as linear instalment, we are able to create the ideal workspace to replace corroded tank bottoms. The roof legs can be relevelled or replaced, as there are no obstacles during the installation of new bottom plates. This lift height also defines the workspace as a non-confined space, allowing all the benefits associated with that. While tank maintenance can be expensive, there is no industry replacement for proper lifting methods or quality repairs which we ensure will mitigate loss of time. We believe this long-term solution speaks for itself, as it is proven to save money and shorten the time that tanks are out of service.
In addition to all this, we employ a longevity process which includes blasting and coating a new or existing tank bottom while it is lifted above the foundation. While optional, this process will significantly extend the life of the tank bottom, as it ceases external corrosion.
J de Jonge TankX also brings lifting systems designed for the ability to relocate storage tanks using cranes, rail tracks, and/or self-propelled platform trailers. Using a variety of these methods, we can even bypass obstructions such as pipelines.
Our goal is to continuously improve our project approach in such a way that tank projects are perfectly defined in the Front-End Loading (FEL) and safely and efficiently executed within budget, time and ensure the best possible customer experience.
We strive to maintain a level of excellence through extensive and ongoing training, smart tooling, competent supervision, project controls and use of fit for purpose lifting equipment that keeps with the highest industry standards and expected project performances.
